Institute of Business Administration, Karachi, Dr. Ishrat Husain urged
the employees of IBA to work with a renewed zeal to enhance the prestige

faculty and staff to welcome him and to bid farewell to Mr. Danishmand,
the outgoing director, at the IBA Main Campus on Saturday evening. Dr.

Institute of Business Administration (IBA) is the oldest graduate
business school outside North America. It was established in April 1955
in collaboration with the Wharton School of Finance, University of
Pennsylvania. Later it was associated with the University of Southern
California. In 1994, IBA's status was elevated to a degree awarding

Karachi,
March 14: The Institute of Business Administration Karachi arranged an
orientation visit to the IBA City Campus for FSP Officers and foreign
diplomats on Friday.
The program was part of the orientation tour
to Karachi & Gwadar being arranged by the Foreign Service Academy,
Islamabad for 22 FSP probationers of the 27th specialized Diplomatic
Course & 26 foreign participants of 19th Advanced Diplomatic Course. Dr.
Muhammad Nishat, the acting Director of the IBA welcomed the guests and

March 12, 2008: Dr. Ishrat Husain arrived in Karachi from Islamabad to
take charge as the Director of the Institute of Business Administration
on Wednesday morning.
He was appointed as the Director of the IBA Karachi by the Governor
Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad last month. Details
Best Teacher
Award from Sindh
The
IBA congratulates Dr. Sayeed Ghani, Chairman Center for Computer
Studies, on receiving the Best Teacher of the year award from Sindh in
the Higher Education category. The award was conferred in a ceremony in
Islamabad by the caretaker Prime Minister, Mohammad Mian Soomro and
Education Minister, Dr. Shamsh Kassim-Lakha during the Salam Teacher Day
for 2007 that was observed on 11th February, 2008. The day is celebrated
every year on October 5, as proclaimed by the United Nations to
recognize the teaching profession and to raise public awareness about
the vital contribution of teachers to the society.

Workshop on
'Qualitative
Research'
organized by
Social Sciences
Department
A
Workshop on 'Qualitative Research' was organized by Social Sciences
Department on January 26, February 2 and 9, 2008. The Resource person
for the Workshop was Dr. Fauzia Shamim, Professor Department of English,
University of Karachi.
The Workshop was conducted to update the Faculty regarding the current
trends in the Qualitative Research.
The Faculty of Social Sciences Department and Faculty
members nominated by respective head of departments attended the
workshop.
The Certificate awarding ceremony was held on February 9, 2008. The
Director IBA Mr. Danishmand gave the Certificates to the Participants.
Mr. Danishmand stressed on the need and significance of Academic
research while speaking on the occasion.

successful SAP
ABAP Training
IBA
would like to congratulate Dr. Nasir Touheed who has successfully
completed the SAP ABAP Training. He has passed the SAP NetWeaver 2004 –
Application Development Focus ABAP Certification exam in January 2008.
The Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP) language is a
special purpose language created by SAP AG for use in the development of
the application components of the SAP R/3 System, which is enterprise
software (ES) also known as enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

Technologies (ICICT
2007), Karachi,

The
ICICT 2007 was held on 15th – 16th December at the IBA City Campus,
Karachi. The conference was an outstanding success and included a number
of key note speeches by international as well as national delegates from
all over Pakistan. The conference included workshops/tutorials as well
as forum discussions by industry participants including Microsoft, Intel
and Mobilink.
The chief guest at the inauguration ceremony was Professor Akhtar Kalam,
Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health, Engineering & Science at Victoria
University, Melbourne, Australia. The closing ceremony was presided by
the Sindh Caretaker Minister for Information Technology, Environment,
Alternative Energy, Mines and Mineral Development Mr. Jam Karam Ali.
Also present on the occasion was Justice Khalid Ali Z. Qazi, Judge, High
Court of Sindh & Chairman, IBA Board of Governors.
