Current Research Interests:   A Knowledge Management Approach to Operationalize Experiential Knowledge: Mapping Tacit Medical Knowledge with Explicit Practice Guidelines.

The area of my research is application of knowledge management technologies in Healthcare, so broadly it falls under the discipline of Health Informatics. The idea is to be able to link explicit knowledge derived from Clinical Practice Guidelines with tacit knowledge extracted from experiential knowledge found in the form of past cases. Thus a holistic view of knowledge is presented when the explicit knowledge is used in tandem with tacit experiential knowledge.

This will be achieved as follows:
Working with one particular CPG, I will to identify with the help of a domain expert what Tacit Knowledge will be required besides what is given in the CPG and then acquire that from past cases stored in the case base. On one hand we have the explicit modality of knowledge in the form of a CPG. After processing it (applying NLP and parsing through MMTx etc) I will obtain queries which are passed on to a CBR system. On the other hand, the CBR system contains tacit knowledge in the form of past cases. The cases structure is designed in such a way that it understands the query passed to it from the CPG. The output would be a proposed solution to the query generated by CPG, solved from the case-base, thus establishing a link between explicit and tacit.
