KARACHI, Dec 12: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi commemorated its convocation on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at the IBA Main Campus, University Road, Karachi. Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Governor Sindh and Patron IBA, was the chief guest of the ceremony. A number of important personalities from academia, corporate and private sector along with the graduating students and their parents were present on the occasion.
Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad congratulated the graduating students and thanked the parents and IBA faculty for transforming students into leaders. He also expressed his utter belief in the leadership of Dr. Ishrat Husain and his devoted team. He urged the students to prepare themselves for the real life challenge.
Director IBA, Dr. Ishrat Husain, welcomed the guests and shared his vision of raising the stature of IBA to match the top business schools in the region. About the structural and technological expansion of IBA he said that there are about 45 projects that are undergoing at present including renovation, up-gradation and construction of new facilities. “The total investment envisaged in physical infrastructure projects during next three to four year is Rs.1.6 billion,” He added.
He also talked about the new e-learning facilities and systems introduced in IBA to make the academic processes and services more efficient. The involvement of IBA faculty in international universities for further studies and development is another achievement cherished by the proud Director in his speech.
Dr. Husain applauded the participation and winning of IBA students at different national and international events such as Finance Seminar at Geneva, National Model United Nations Conference in New York and Battle of Minds Competition at Islamabad.
Shedding light on changes that have been introduced in different departments of IBA, the Director said, ‘I have a dream to raise IBA to a degree of excellence that only imagination can appreciate’. He also informed the audience about the recent introduction of three new programs namely EMBA for Public Sector Executives & Corporate Managers and MBA for Banking and Financial Sector Executives. Dr. Husain further stated that efforts are in hand to reinvigorate the area of computer studies, in this regard he said that the Faculty of Computer Science has lately been transformed into a separate faculty with a completely new identity and research and entrepreneurship driven programs. |
