September 26, 2009: Mr. Ahsan Saleem, Director, The Citizens Foundation (TCF) and CEO, Crescent Steel & Allied Products, visited the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi as part of the “Distinguished Lecture Series”.

Chairperson Dept. of Marketing, Mr. Humayun Ansari delivering the welcome address drew attention to the achievements of the guest speaker.

The chief guest, Mr. Saleem said “When our team of six members including myself started work in 1995 after the formation of TCF, we had to choose one of the areas among education, health, jobs, poverty etc. We decided to select education because we believe that illiteracy is the main root of many other problems in Pakistan”.

He highlighted the work carried out by TCF in building and running several hundred schools in the rural and urban areas of Pakistan. Mr. Saleem gave an excellent presentation on the history and achievements of the TCF. His address was followed by an enlightening Question and Answer session.

Dr. Sayeed Ghani, Associate Dean, Faculty of Computer Science then concluded the session by thanking the guest speaker. He emphasized that it is critical for the nation’s progress that each one of us review our own mission statement and that we remember that each of us as individuals have the ability to make a change in the society. He requested the IBA students and faculty to take a step forward and start collaboration with organizations such as the TCF.
