Success beyond borders

Students from the foremost business schools spanning the globe congregated in Seattle from April 11th to 16th, 2011, to compete in University of Washington’s Michael G. Foster School of Business’ 13th annual Global Business Case Competition- GBCC. A team of four participants comprising Mr. Mahad Hamza, Ms. Anam Yamin, Ms. Maryam Suteria and Ajlaan Sayani, represented IBA at the forum. The team was accompanied by Ms. Naheed Memon as the IBA Faculty Advisor.

The GBCC culminated at the Global Business Center in Seattle where teams representing top 12 business schools from around the world presented their solution for a real-life case challenge to a panel of judges comprising top executives, entrepreneurs and consultants from global businesses: Microsoft Co, Amazon, Starbucks and Boeing.

The IBA team added another accolade to the name of the institution by winning the Business faux paus challenge and being recognized among the top 5 teams in the competition.

The week’s events gave participants the opportunity to build cross-cultural relationships, experience the city of Seattle and provide stimulating analysis and business recommendations of a real-world case within a timed 48 hour period.

Lastly, the IBA team would like to convey special gratitude to their sponsors; Allied Bank Limited, Arif Habib Investments, McDonalds and Turkish Airlines. Their generous support in this initiative accolades for them as strong advocates of education and development of talent at IBA in particular and across Pakistan in general.
