7th Council Meeting and Seminar of Deans/Directors (Sindh Region) of National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC) at IBA, Karachi.



Karachi, Jan. 21, 2012: The seventh meeting of the National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC) was held on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012 at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi. Prof. Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad, Chairman NBEAC, presided over the meeting.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman briefed the Council Members about the needs and challenges to improve the quality of business education. The Chairman reported that over four years we have brought the standards at par with international standards by the participation of all business education deans and directors. We have shifted from design phase to implementation phase; thus, termed this year as “YEAR to Show Results”. He also stressed to expedite the accreditation activity by setting the target of thirty Institutions accredited before Fall-2012.
 

The seminar and informal lunch with Deans of Sindh region was organized to create awareness about the accreditation process in the region. Dr. Ishrat Husain, Dean and Director IBA, Karachi was invited as a guest of honor in the seminar. He welcomed the participants on behalf of NBEAC by emphasizing on the requirements and needs of accreditation for stakeholders. He said that the accreditation is a very positive step taken by HEC to facilitate business school by improvement of Quality Standards. He also informed that besides international accreditation, IBA would also be applying for accreditation at national level with NBEAC. The members emphasized to hold awareness seminars for Deans nationwide. Moreover, advanced level trainings for assessors and peer reviewer would also help to expedite the accreditation process.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nishat emphasized on the importance of preparing the Self-Assessment Report and also offered the mentoring facility to business schools.
 

Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad announced that NBEAC would be holding the first national conference of Deans and Directors in collaboration with HEC in summer 2012. He also ensured the support from NBEAC for institutions to apply for accreditation.
