Convocation 2007 was held at IBA City Campus on Saturday the 20th Jan 2007. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was the Chief Guest. Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ebad who is patron of IBA and Mr. Abdullah Yousuf Chairman Central Board of Revenue were also present. The degrees of MBA in Tax Management were conferred to the successful students.

The Chief Guest Mr. Shaukat Aziz spoke on the occasion. He pointed out in his speech that the total fiscal revenue collection in the current year stood at Rs.410 billion which is 27 percent higher when compared with the figures of previous year. He pointed out that the increase in revenue collection has surpassed the 17 percent growth rate target of revenue collection fixed for the year.

He mentioned to the audience that the growth in the revenue collection was the result of certain measures taken by the Government viz reduced tax rates, boom in the economy and simplification of procedures for revenue collection.
 

He said that lot of work now is to be done in the sphere of customs. He said it is necessary to make our custom procedures modern, relying more on intelligence and less on physical checking.

Prime Minister said that the new graduates of IBA in Tax Management are asset for the country. He emphasized that we must induct skilled people in the field of Tax Management. The present Course offered by IBA is in line with Government Objective.
