Lecture Discussion by Dr. Yuto Kitamure Associate Professor,
Nagoya University on "Role of Education for the Modernization
of Japanese Society" and Lecture Discussion by Mr. Hisaya
ODA, Researcher, Institute of Development Economics on the
topic "The Post War Japanese Economic Growth &
its Relevance to Developing Countries was held on Saturday
the 27th Jan, 2007 at IBA Auditorium, City Campus.
The event was largely attended by prominent guests,
dignitaries and students of IBA. The Director IBA gave the
welcome address.
Dr. Kitamore
highlighted the Roles of National Education System in a
Society. He emphasized that all people in a society must
have equal access to education.
He
criticized that the practice of excluding Women, Minorities,
and Disabled people from Education and considered it as
a violation of justice and human rights and a major loss
of potential human resources of the society.
Mr. Hisaya ODA in his lecture spoke about Postwar Japanese
Economic Growth & Technical Progress. He narrated the
journey of Japanese Economy from Feudal System to present
age of modernization step by step.
He presented various economic indicators viz. GDP Growth
Rate and GNP of five major countries of the world through
charts and showed the progress made by Japan. Numerical data’s
presented through different tables were not only
easy to understand by the audience but also depicted
the rapid growth made by Japanese Economy at a glance.
He
also mentioned the names of some Japanese Private Companies
who occupy a prominent status and position in relation to
the volume of business done by them at International Level.
Both the lectures were heard
by the audience with interest. The Dignitaries replied to
the questions put before them by the audience on conclusion
of their lectures.
