October 12, Karachi: The Tabba Foundation has signed an agreement with the Institute of Business Administration Karachi to donate a sum of Rs. 120 million for up gradation and improvement of infrastructure at the IBA campuses. The amount will be used to construct a state-of-the-art academic block at the Main Campus which will be dedicated to the memory of the Late Mr. Razzak Tabba. An agreement to the effect was signed by Dr. Ishrat Husain, Dean & Director IBA and Mr. Muhammad Ali Tabba, CEO Lucky Cement in a ceremony held at the IBA City Campus on Friday, October 9, 2009.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Ishrat Husian appreciated the efforts and support of the Tabba Foundation including the establishing of the Lucky Cement Scholarship Scheme through which 2.4 million rupees were pledged by the Tabba family for award of scholarship to needy students of IBA. Under this Scheme, the Tabba Foundation will continue to provide scholarships to deserving students at IBA over the next four years.

 

Capt. Ahmed Zaheer, Registrar IBA, in his address at the Ceremony lauded the benevolent activities of the Tabba Foundation and traced back the history of Philanthropic acts of Muslims in the field of education in sub-continent to 1869 when Sir Syed Ahmed Khan acknowledged the contributions of Memon families in developing their business and professional skills. He also cherished the contribution of the Tabba Foundation n the field of health and education as a tradition of community welfare services in the country.

Speaking at the event Mr. Rehan-Ul-Ambia, Director Projects IBA, briefed the guests about academic building project. He also thanked the distinguished guests, including members of Executive Committee and Faculty, for their presence at the occasion.
