Seminar on "Information Security"

 

The Faculty of Computer Science (FCS) hosted a seminar on Information Security on 29th October 2011. This seminar was held in collaboration with Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Karachi Chapter.
 
Following topics were covered during the seminar:
1.     Auditing AIX operating system presented by Faisal Abdullah Akhawala
2.     Application Security/ Threats and Countermeasures presented by Muhammad Kamran
3.     Vulnerability Assessment/ Scanning presented by Muhammad Asif Riaz 

 

Profile of Speakers:

Muhammad Asif Riaz CISSP, CISM, CEH

Asif is a consultant working with Risk Associates Pvt. Ltd. He is a specialist in Information Security, IT Governance, IT Audit and Compliance. He is the only ISC2 member in Pakistan who has successfully delivered first PCI DSS and PA DSS certifications in Pakistan. He is also serving on the board of ISACA, Karachi Chapter.

 

Muhammad Kamran CISA, CISM, ITIL, CRISC  - Chairperson, Academic Relation, ISACA, Karachi Chapter

Karman has an experience of more than 18 years in Financial & IT industry and managed various successful Projects & Assignments related to I.T Operations, Banking Applications, BCP & Disaster Recovery and Information Security & Audit.

 

Faisal Abdullah Akhawala, Manager, ITRA, Ernst & Young Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder

Faisal is a Manager within Information Technology Risk & Assurance (ITRA) service line of Ernst & Young Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder (EYFRSH). He has been associated with EYFRSH for 8 years and has overall 12 years of experience. He is Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)

 

The seminar was concluded by Mr. Farooq Wahab Nayer, Head Compliance, Dubai Islamic Bank and Chairperson, Marketing ISACA, Karachi Chapter by an interactive Q/A session.
