Graduate Admissions
Requirements
 
  • Must have a bachelor's degree (with a minimum of 60%) from recognized university in any area of study
  • Minimum 2.5 out of 4.0 GPA
  • 16 years of education is required
  • 2 years experience for MBA preferred
  • [Must have 2 years experience for MBA from 2010 onwards]
  • The IBA also accepts holders of professional degrees (B.E., M.B.B.S., etc)

   
Procedure

Admission details along with IBA entrance test dates will be published in the Daily DAWN & Jang (by mid May).


Ph.D. Requirements:
 
Degree (In relevant subject)

  • M.Phil. or M.S.                 
  • 18 years of education
  • Minimum 3.0 out of 4.0 GPA

Additional Requirements

  • GRE (International) General Scores                  
  • Two references from department
  • A brief proposal indicating your research interest 

Teaching Assistance

  • Ph.D. students shall be required to either teach undergraduate level courses for which a monthly stipend shall be given
  • Ph.D. students will be entitled to full waiver of tuition fee for the entire program

 
   
Application submission

The application will be available online following national newspaper advertisements by the end of April. It should be filled online, with the processing fee payment challan (payable in all branches of the Faysal Bank in Karachi). For applicants outside Karachi, payment can be made and the application material should be deposited at the specified branches of Faysal Bank, along with two passport-sized photographs. The applicants will be issued an admit card, which must be brought along with a photo ID to be able to appear in the aptitude test.

   
Aptitude test

The aptitude test is conducted at the Main on a specified date. The candidates are assessed for their English, Mathematics and Essays. There will also be an Specialized Discipline Test in their area of specialty. Applicants outside Karachi will be tested in Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta. Candidates who pass the aptitude test qualify for the next step of the induction process, i.e. group discussion followed by an interview.

 
   
Document check

Candidates are required to bring the following documents in original on the day of group discussion / interview:

  • Matriculation/O’ Levels (or equivalent) certificate with marks sheet
  • Intermediate/A’ Levels (or equivalent) certificate with marks sheet
  • Graduation marks sheet (In case of applicants whose final year result has not been announced, first year marks sheet, showing no deficiency in any subject must be provided)
  • Equivalence Certificate in case of holders of degrees/certificates issued by non-Pakistani university/boards

   
Group discussion

The selected candidates are divided into groups. These groups are given a topic to debate and discuss amongst themselves. During this process, communication skills, interpersonal skills, confidence and leadership potential are assessed.

   
Interview

Interviews are helpful in evaluating the level of maturity, motivation, interpersonal skills and career focus of the applicants.
 
 
   
Registration and Enrollment

Students who have been granted admission to any of the IBA programs (except visiting candidates) must submit the following documents to complete the registration and enrollment process:
  • Bachelors’ degree or marks sheet (if degree is awaited signed by the University authorities along with an attested copyMatriculation /O’ Levels certificate with an attested copy)
  • Intermediate /A’ Levels certificate/marks sheet with an attested copy
  • Migration certificate of the university /board concerned, except in the case of Karachi University/Karachi Board
  • Six copies of a recent passport-sized photograph
  • The student must submit these documents and pay the fee within the time limit prescribed by the Institute. The offer of admission will remain valid if a candidate does not take admission in the semester for which the offer is made.
