Dr. Farrukh Delivers a Lecture to MS Islamic Banking and Finance Students
May 10, 2018: Dean & Director, Dr. Farrukh Iqbal delivered
his first lecture to MS Islamic Banking and Finance students on
the topic of Financial Aid. In the lecture Dr. Farrukh explained
what is considered foreign aid. He explained about the role of
IMF, World Bank, safety nets for poor, IDB and the top 10
countries receiving foreign aid (on the basis of GDP per capita
and GDP per unit). He also shared views explaining whether aid
helps or hurts, in relation to economic growth of the receiving
He shared another view, which is ‘aid helps those who help themselves’. This perspective is gaining popularity as good institutions and good policies are the key for maximum utilization of foreign aid. The students asked questions and clarified the rumors regarding conditionality and types of foreign aid.
