Recently, Nayyara's essay was published in
'I Belong' a project of British Council. Through 'I Belong', this
experience of self-exploration will be shared by writers in Pakistan and
Malaysia, Egypt and Iraq, France and the UK. The
story of 'The Belong' has been turned to a short film and is also being
studied by LDC (U-penn).
Nayyara Rahman was born in
Karachi in 1984, where she is now studying at the Institute of Business
Administration. She has participated in many creative writing
competitions before, including those held by Pakistan's National Science
Museum and Japan's Goi Peace Foundation. She participated in the Royal
Commonwealth Essay Writing Competition too. She won the Sohrab Houwie
Mehta Prize for her Urdu essay, and ranked second in various English
essay competitions. Apart from writing, Nayyara enjoys reading, public
speaking, web surfing and is something of an amateur social activist,
advocating animal rights for her pets. She also likes to look after her
pets. |
