Karachi, April 6: The new Director of the Institute of
Business Administration, Karachi, Dr. Ishrat Husain urged
the employees of IBA to work with a renewed zeal to enhance
the prestige of the institution. He was speaking at a
reception arranged by the IBA faculty and staff to welcome
him and to bid farewell to Mr. Danishmand, the outgoing
director, at the IBA Main Campus on Saturday evening. Dr.
Ishrat Husain, in his speech, said: “We should pay tribute
to the people who have contributed to our nation and
institutions.”
Lauding the services of Danishmand, the IBA Acting Director,
Dr. Muhammad Nishat said that during his tenure many new
programmes were introduced by the Institute including the
four-year BBA programme, B.S. & Ph.D. in Computer Science,
M.S. in Economics & Finance and training programmes for the
EOBI and the Sindh government officials, to name a few.
Dr. Nishat said that the number of faculty members has been
increased to 90 including 23 Ph.D.s, while the number of
students has been reached to 1,700 during the last few
years. “The IBA has organized many international conferences
and seminars during these six years and its credit goes to
the outgoing director”, he added.
Dr. Nishat pointed out that many of IBA faculty members were
sent abroad for specialization during the last six years. He
said that the IBA policy of ‘Admission only on Merit’ was
strictly implemented during this period. The IBA arranged a
country-wide talent hunt program with its own resources and
provided financial support to the deserving cum meritorious
students.
He welcomed Dr. Ishrat Husain and expressed his hope that the
IBA will progress more during his directorship. Senior
faculty and staff members also spoke on the occasion and
lauded the services of outgoing Director, Danishmand. They
also welcomed new IBA Director, Dr. Ishrat Husain.
Later in the evening, the IBA Registrar, Prof. Inayat N.
Din, presented a memento to Mr. Danishmand.
In his farewell address, the
former Director, Danishmand, said that IBA has the best
workforce that has made it a world-class business school. He
asked the faculty members to promote merit, truth and
openness for the betterment of the Institute. The program
was concluded with a standing ovation to Danishmand.
