Karachi, March 14: The Institute of Business Administration
Karachi arranged an orientation visit to the IBA City Campus
for FSP Officers and foreign diplomats on Friday.
The program was part of the orientation tour to Karachi &
Gwadar being arranged by the Foreign Service Academy,
Islamabad for 22 FSP probationers of the 27th specialized
Diplomatic Course & 26 foreign participants of 19th Advanced
Diplomatic Course. Dr. Muhammad Nishat, the acting Director
of the IBA welcomed the guests and informed them briefly
about the past and present of IBA.
He said that IBA is moving towards the internationalization
of its study programmes by enhancing its linkages with
reputable foreign universities.
Terming the IBA a world class business school, Dr. Nishat
said that the Institute was established in 1955 and is the
oldest business school outside North America. He said that
the IBA is widely recognized because we are working with a
vision to provide leadership and ideas for tomorrow and
always emphasize merit, truth and discipline as our core
values.
Dr. Sayeed Ghani, Chairman Centre for Computer Studies IBA,
gave a comprehensive briefing about the Institute. He termed
IBA a renowned ‘Island of Excellence’ due to its stringent admission
process, quality of students, emphasis on discipline, advance IT and
research facilities and efficient job placement support for
its graduates.
Dr. Ghani said that a major renovation project costing Rs.
550 million for both the campuses of the Institute is
underway that would be completed in the next two years. He
ruled out the impression that the Institute is serving only
an
elite class and said that about fifty percent
students of the Institute availed the fee concession
facility.
Dr.
Ghani said that all the admissions in IBA are strictly done
on merit and no student is deprived of admission due to
his/her financial constraints.
Fauzia Nasreen, the Director General of the Foreign Service
Academy, Islamabad praised the efforts of IBA in promoting
world class education. Mr. Tajamul Altaf, Director Foreign
Service Academy highlighted the role of academy as a
training arm of the Foreign Ministry. He said that the
academy has trained 300 Pakistanis and 900 foreign diplomats
of 80 different countries so far.
The Program was concluded with the distribution of
Souvenirs among the guests followed by lunch. |
