Karachi: April 17, 2009: The Institute of Business Administration, Karachi hosted City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal on its “Distinguished Lecture Series” platform on Thursday, April 16 at the IBA City Campus Auditorium.

Mr. Humayun Ansari, Chairperson Marketing Department welcomed the honorable guest and declared him ‘the son of the nation’ who has set a living example for the youth of Pakistan.

Commenting on the huge round of applause on his arrival, Mr. Kamal said that he was overwhelmed by the response and thanked the IBA for inviting him. The Nazim then briefed IBA community about the challenges of managing Karachi and various impediments in the administration of the city. The Nazim elaborated on the solutions and the methodologies of generating alternative measures to multiple problems. A documentary regarding the construction of signal free corridors, water & sanitation plants, health & recreational facilities and other massive projects was shown to the audience.

A number of intelligent and intriguing questions were raised by the IBA students present at the occasion. Mr. Kamal very convincingly answered the queries and enlightened the IBAians on the various pressing issues faced by the city. The nazim lauded IBA’s efforts in providing quality business and management leaders to the nation and appreciated the Director IBA, Dr. Ishrat Husain’s strategic vision for the institution. He said that the IBA would certainly be ranked among the top 10 business schools in the region & 100 global business schools in the world with Dr. Ishrat’s vision and leadership.

Dr. Ishrat Husain thanked the city nazim for enlightening IBA students about the various challenges in managing mega city Karachi. He urged IBA students to actively participate in the community development programs with the city government for the uplift of the society. He declared City Nazim ‘a rock star for youth’ and presented him IBA’s commemorative shield.
