IBA Acquires Additional 1 MB Internet Link

The need for appropriate high-speed and reliable Internet connectivity in an educational environment cannot be over-emphasized in the present day information dependent society. During the last two years, the Internet and Web Based application usage at IBA has considerably increased due to the installation of the 450 plus node Fiber Optic and Cat-6 based LAN network and the 11Mbps MAN interconnecting the two campuses.

In order to bring the Internet bandwidth inline with the current IBA Internet requirements, IBA has acquired an additional 1 Mbps full duplex DXX link (STM-1 via SMW-3) from PTCL. This is a Full Circuit Premium Internet Protocol Backbone Connectivity Circuit, which now provides an additional dedicated link for IBA’s growing Internet requirements. This bandwidth is also used for hosting web based applications such as Email Server, IBAs Website, IBA Alumni Website, Campus Management System (CMS) and the IBA Research Portal (IRP). This brings the total bandwidth available to both campuses of IBA to 1.6 Mbps.
