Call for Proposals
Teaching and Learning Symposium seeks to celebrate innovative teaching practices, encourage scholarly exchange, and strengthen collaboration among the founding institutions comprising IBA Karachi, Aga Khan University and Habib University in advancing excellence in higher education.
The Founding Consortium invites proposals from faculty members and academic professionals for Pedagogy in Action and Ideas that Inspire to demonstrate and/or present the teaching strategies and/or scholarly inquiry.
Submission Tracks
2. Ideas That Inspire
A 30-minute paper presentation that enables educators to present scholarly and practice-based work related to teaching and learning. You can share innovative teaching practices, classroom experiences, pedagogical research, scholarship of teaching and learning, and reflective practice.
Presenters are encouraged to discuss the context, rationale, implementation, evidence of impact, key findings, and lessons learned from their work, while highlighting practical insights that can inform and inspire teaching across disciplines.
Indicative Themes
Submissions are encouraged (but not limited) to the following themes:
- Artificial Intelligence in Teaching, Learning, and Active Pedagogy
- Assessment, Feedback, Academic Integrity, and Constructive Alignment in the Age of AI
- Inclusive, Equitable, and Student-Centered Learning
- Enabling Learners for the Real World in the Age of AI
- Digital Innovation and Flexible Learning Environments
- Leadership, Policy, and Institutional Transformation
- Implementation of AI Policies and Frameworks
- Societal implications of AI-dependent learning

Faculty members and academic professionals from:
- Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi
- Aga Khan University (AKU)
- Habib University
Submission Requirements
Each proposal must include the following information:
- Presentation Track: Clearly indicate whether the submission is for Pedagogy in Action (workshop) or Ideas That Inspire (paper presentation).
- Title: A concise and descriptive title of the proposed session or paper.
- Symposium Theme: Select the theme that best aligns with your submission.
- Session Description / Proposal Abstract (Maximum 300 words):
- For Pedagogy in Action: Submit the session detail and describe the teaching strategy or pedagogical approach to be demonstrated, including the planned participant engagement activities and the intended learning experience.
- For Ideas That Inspire: Submit the proposal abstract that summarizes the teaching practice, classroom innovation, pedagogical research, scholarly inquiry, or reflective practice to be presented, highlighting its context, key insights, outcomes, and relevance to teaching and learning.
- Keywords: Provide 4-6 keywords that capture the main concepts, themes, teaching approaches, or areas of focus of the submission.
- Learning Outcomes: List 2-3 learning outcomes describing what participants will gain from the session.
- Presenter(s): Name(s), designation, department, institution, and email address of all presenter(s).
- Corresponding Presenter: Name, email address, and contact number of the primary contact for the submission.
- Statement of Consent: I agree to its inclusion in the Symposium Proceedings and related event documentation, if my submission is accepted.
Submission Process
Please submit your proposal through the online submission portal which can be accessed at: Only complete submissions received by the deadline will be considered.
Review Process
All submissions will undergo a peer review by the Symposium Scientific Committee.
Submission Policies
- A presenter may submit multiple proposals; however, acceptance will be based on the review process and programme capacity.
- The Scientific Committee reserves the right to recommend a change in presentation format where appropriate.
- Minor edits may be made to accepted proposals for publication in the symposium programme.
- By submitting the statement of consent, presenters grant the Symposium Organizing Committee permission to publish the title, abstract, presenter information, and session details in symposium-related publications and promotional materials.
- Presenters are responsible for obtaining permission to use any copyrighted material included in their presentations.
