SBP nominates IBA faculty as the Accountant-Member, Shari'ah Advisory Committee

Mr. Haroon Tabraze was nominated as the Accountant-Member, 'Shari'ah Advisory Committee', State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). For the first time, an academician outside accounting practice, has been nominated for this position.

Mr. Saiyed Shahab Ahmed was recently recognized for his work in Information Technology by Microsoft. His story was documented as a case-study which covered his work in Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, Business Applications automation, and IT Security.

Dr. Qaiser Munir co-authored a book with colleagues from Russia titled, Emerging Bond Markets Shedding Light on Trends and Patterns. The publication focuses at the dynamics of the development of emerging bond markets, their competitiveness, features and patterns using macro and micro level data.

Dr. Irum Saba was ranked no. 17 out of top-300 women with influence in Islamic business and finance. Her efforts have been recognized by the WOMANi Programme, comprising the WOMANi Report and WOMANi Awards – which was founded by Cambridge IFA in 2019.

The Islamica 500 has selected Mr. Ahmed Ali Siddiqui amongst the top 500 people shaping the Islamic economy. The recognition was announced at the 11th World Islamic Economic Forum in Kuala Lumpur.

Dr. Ashraf Khan joined the editorial advisory board of International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management (IMEFM). IMEFM is an SSCI, Scopus indexed and X-Category HEC recognized journal with impact factor of 1.206.
IBA faculty appointed as a council member of Pakistan Insurance Institute

Dr. Saqib Sharif was appointed as a member of the Pakistan Insurance Institute (PII) Council for a term of 3 years (2020-2023) and is also part of the academic committee, operating under the umbrella of Council. The Council represents professionals from the insurance industry and nominees from the Ministry of Commerce, Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan.
IBA faculty won the Global Challenges Research Fund grant

Dr. Nausheen Anwar won a grant of £281,000, for her project Cool Infrastructures: Life with Heat in the Off-Grid City, funded by the United Kingdom's Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) through the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), a £1.5 billion UK Government scheme.
IBA faculty authored a monograph on Gilgit-Baltistan


Mr. Sajjad Ahmad

Mr. Sajjad Ahmad produced a monograph on 'The Gilgit-Baltistan Conundrum: Dilemmas of Political Integration' which attempts to investigate the hurdles and complexities Gilgit-Baltistan is facing for its political integration with Pakistan.
IBA faculty won a research grant by the Wenner-Gren Foundation


Dr. Abdul Haque Chang

Dr. Abdul Haque Chang was awarded a $20,000 research grant by the Wenner-Gren Foundation for his study on the topic The Making of Shah Jo Raag: An Ethnographic Study of Sufi Musical Tradition in Sindh, Pakistan. His research will focus on the making of Shah Jo Raag, a tradition of devotional music in the province of Sindh.
