Guidelines for Work from Home for Staff Members

Work from Home (WFH) has been introduced in the quest of reducing workforce presence at the campuses. This initiative is a safety precaution against the COVID-19 pandemic that has taken a surge yet again in Pakistan. With the rising number of cases and a sudden diagnosis of multiple cases in the institute, it is essential for us to maintain safe social distance, which could not be possible if all employees were attending office simultaneously.

Although WFH requires minimum essential workforce (except essential/skeleton staff such as security, housekeeping, clinical staff, etc.) to attend office, there are certain clarities that are in order:

  • The entire team could be divided into two groups – each group shall be attending to work at the premises on alternate shifts, days or week. while the other group would be working from home, as per the requirement of the Job and approval of Head of Department.
  • HoDs are responsible for departmental and team members' deliverables and timely disposal of services.
  • Employee over the age of 55 shall not be required to attend office physically, except the Managerial or supervising staff with proper following of SOPs.
  • Persons with high temperature or flu like symptoms and cough may not be allowed in the campus.
  • As the institute is operational, remote working is required and employees are needed to attend to tasks from home given by the HoD/ supervisor.
  • WFH requires the at-home employees to be available on-call during working hours and communicate via email and telephone.
  • The at-home employees, after receiving formal approval from HoD and an official intimation to the HR Department, will have their WFH days adjusted in the Attendance System accordingly.
  • A Time-sheet form (attached) will be provided to all employees to fill and get it approved with your supervisor accordingly for WFH days on daily basis.
  • No employee shall have their WFH days adjusted as any sort of leave.
  • No additional compensation, in terms of leave or remuneration, will be provided to the employees.
  • It is essential for all WFH employees to have working telephone/mobile and internet connection at home to ensure effective remote working.
  • Remote working, along with working network connections, also requires a working desktop/laptop. In case of unavailability of any such resource at home, it is advisable to discuss with HoD and devise a plan to accommodate a seamless working schedule.
  • It is possible that many employees cannot avail WFH i.e. employees with desktops at the office and no alternate available at home or employees working on servers only available on-campus or their physical presence is required based on you. In this situation, seating can be changed to maintain social distancing at the workplace.
