IBA students bag awards at the CFA Institute Research Challenge 2021-22 View More Students Achievements

February 26, 2022: Two teams of students from the IBA Karachi participated in the Pakistan Finals of the CFA Institute Research Challenge where Team 2 from IBA was announced as the winner and was also awarded the Best Presentation Award; while Team 1 from IBA was declared as the runner-up team and won the Best Research Report Award.

It was a tough competition between 25 teams from different universities across Pakistan. This win makes them the best undergraduate teams in this year's Local Challenge, thus securing their place in the Regional Challenge.

The teams of IBA students were trained under the unwavering guidance of their industry advisors, Mr. Rohit Kumar and Mr. Muhammad Bilal Khan, and faculty advisor Mr. Sohaib Ahmed.

The winning team includes Syed Haziq Kalam, Syed Musa Raza, Taha Baig, Musaab Bin Afroz whereas the runner-up team includes Areeb Alam, Maleeha Hadi, Zain Ahmed, Shahs Sarfaraz.

This year the CFA Institute Research Challenge was focused on in-depth investigation of Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited's fundamentals and prospects to finalize and pitch an investment recommendation. Participating teams worked with their assigned mentors over the course of six months to create a detailed financial model and submitted their recommendations in a research report. The finalists, selected from an evaluation of the reports, presented their findings to the leading industry practitioners.
