Quantum Information Summer School 2019 at IBA

The Quantum Information Summer School (QISS) is an initiative to bring together some of the leading experts in their area to engage, train and collaborate with Pakistani researchers and students. With the recent surge of investment by large public companies (Google, Microsoft, IBM), startup companies (Rigetti, IdQuantique, Magiq, ionQ, Dwave, QCware) and multi-billion dollar research initiatives by US, Canada, EU, China and Australia, now is an opportune time to develop our strength in the area.

The topics discussed in the first QISS included introduction to quantum information, quantum cryptography, quantum finite automata and implementation possibilities for a quantum computer. QISS 2019 titled "Quantum Causal Structures" deals with analyzing causal structures via quantum theory. The field focuses on developing a framework to study quantum correlations where the causal order of events is not predefined. This framework exhibits peculiarities like quantum superposition of causal orders between events. The work has direct implications for understanding quantum to classical transitions and how causal orders determine our fundamental notion of time itself.

QISS 2019 will also provide researchers the opportunity to present their current research work in order to encourage collaborations.
